OSD Reminders for Winter 2024

Dear Students:

We hope that the quarter is going well for you and that you have arrangements set up for your winter quarter accommodations. If your instructor has indicated that you need to take exams in the Triton Testing Center, you must register with them right away.

The Orion Fund

The Orion Fund is now accepting application for one time scholarship funding for students who are facing a health crisis. The deadline is February 22, 2024. Keep in mind that you will need to write a letter describing your situation and gather various materials and other letters of support.

Note-Taking

During the next couple of quarters, we will continue to make changes and updates to note-taking processes, including giving students access to machine captioned podcasting in lieu of peer notes. However, if you believe that your functional limitations can only be mitigated by peer notes, you will need to discuss this with your OSD Disability Specialist.

CAPS Community Forums

CAPS is offering a variety of Community Forums for both undergraduate and graduate students including one for students with ADHD.

Mathematica's Summer Internship Program

Mathematica, a public policy research company, is recruiting undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students for their summer internship program, and they typically hire students for a variety of roles, including research intern, web development intern, data science intern, business development intern and more! Positions will post on a rolling basis on theircareers page at the end of January and early February.

Key Highlights of the program

  • A structured, 10-week paid summer internship
  • Interns have the option to work either fully remote or in a hybrid capacity
  • Hands-on experience and mentorship: Students are paired with a mentor and work closely with Mathematica staff while gaining hands-on experience with real-world projects
  • Professional Development: Students will enhance their skills and knowledge through trainings and professional development workshops
