OSD Newsletter for Fall 2022

Welcome back to campus! We wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with a few reminders and would appreciate it if you would read this email in its entirety. (It will take you less than 2 minutes – we timed it!)

If you have made any additions to your class schedule for Fall and you have already been approved to receive accommodations through the OSD Student Portal, you must email your Disability Specialist. The system does not automatically update!

Authorization for Accommodation (AFA) letters will be emailed to you, your instructors, and the OSD academic liaison on or after the first day of instruction. REMEMBER: you are responsible for connecting with your instructors to discuss accommodation arrangements AND you must take additional steps (outlined in an email from your disability specialist) to request accommodations such as peer note-taking, alt text/e-text, and access to Kurzweil, if you are eligible for these accommodations.

Outdoor Adventures, which is part of UCSD Recreation, is interested in creating adaptive programs. If this is something you would like to see on our campus, please email no later than Friday, October 14.

Save the Date: Jobtoberfest will be held on Wednesday, October 12 from 10 am – 2 pm
Location: Balboa Park Club, 2144 Pan American Road West, San Diego, 92101
Bring your resume and dress for success! Accommodations available!
Email with any questions or concerns

Be the voice for change – get out and vote! Local and state elections will occur in early November so make sure you are registered to vote:

Finally, as a reminder to plan ahead, as soon as you register for Winter Quarter classes (yes, it will happen more quickly than you think!), email your Disability Specialist to request accommodations for next quarter. While we are working on a way to have accommodations update from quarter to quarter within the OSD Student Portal, that upgrade hasn’t been finalized yet, so help us help you.
